At this time next week, I'll be finishing packing up my stuff to load onto a few "relocubes" the next morning, which will meet us out in LA. The fact that we are leaving so soon is just starting to hit me-- it's going to be pretty crazy adventure. But for this week, we're still in a pretty normal routine around here-- comprised of viral videos and TV as much as always.
1. Conference Call in Real Life
This video is hilarious, and so very accurate. I'm not looking forward to being "that guy" with the barking dogs in the background when I am working from my home office. As we are awaiting the Super Bowl over here, I'm reminded sometimes commercials are just as capable of viral video success as those created strictly for comedic value. This is one.
2. The Gifys
The Gifys are the first ever "awards ceremony" for GIFs, as chosen by the internet public! Voting is now closed--but check out the very deserving winners.
3. The Alton Browncast
I've mentioned before my penchant for streaming the crap out of NPR on my Jambox. But when I am in the mood for something a bit more lighthearted, I usually turn to Nerdist and listen to Chris Hardwick or Alton Brown. I love Alton Brown's podcast so much-- it inspires me in the kitchen but also explains a lot of my unasked questions about the "science" of food. This week, I put on a recent Browncast only to find his guest was Philip Preston, the owner of Poly Science. I loved listening to Philip and Alton discuss the brand's many innovative kitchen tools-- including my beloved Smoking Gun that I just mentioned here last week!
4. SNL with Melissa McCarthy / Seth Meyers' Farewell Update
The whole episode of SNL last night with Melissa McCarthy was awesome -- I loved the "Ladies Group" sketch and McCarthy as a rogue congresswoman-- but Seth Meyers saying goodnight from the Weekend Update desk for the final time was my favorite part. And any Stefon Meyers appearance always wins.
