Getting Crafty, Part 1 (of infinity): Etched Mason Jars

So, I believe I noted somewhat recently, that dear old Neverbroken.com is about to get a bit of a facelift: from blog to brand, this here site will soon be home to various handmade goods and design concepts for home, weddings, and events.

When you have prided yourself on creativity for so long, it is difficult to actually zero in on one thing you'd like to pursue. However, with weddings abound in recent past and near future, it became obvious to me and a few friends that we should start to provide the general public with our handmade wares.

And while I know DIY has exploded in recent years and an Etsy empire is hardly something new and different, I think our quirky concepts and general aesthetic will hopefully appeal to a particular audience; like us.

In pursuit of this new endeavor, many trips to local craft store have been made. And in a test-of-materials, I decided to use the etching cream I had recently purchased to label my two ever-present-on-the-counter mason jars, for sugar and flour.

I'm sure a stencil could have been a bit more simplistic to use, but I quite enjoy hand-drawn typography (and pride myself on my own, not going to lie), so for this I just utilized some painter's tape, an exacto-knife to cut out the "stencil", aforementioned etching cream, and a paint brush. Follow the rules on said etching cream, but basically you just paint a heavy-as-shit layer of the stuff on your desired space, wait about a minute, and rinse under warm water. And voila!

Fill 'er up with whatever you labeled, and no longer will you have your roommates bitching at you that they put flour in their morning coffee (to which I say, "cahmannnnnnn boys!").
